Derby shoes, unlike Oxford designs, are an outer-feathered shoe with lace-through feathers attached on the front of the instep.
Samples include five eyelet, three eyelet, and one eyelet designs. Designs with more eyelets create a slightly more classic impression, compared to those with less eyelets which have a slightly more fashionable impression.
Since the opening for wearing the shoe opens outward and is flexible, this design tends to have a slightly looser fit than an Oxford design even when made using the same wooden form.
